About The Site

I’m Scott Schrantz and I live in Nevada. Carson City, to be exact, the state capital. I run a placeblog there, AroundCarson.com. So why am I writing about Seattle? Because I’ve known for a few years that I don’t want to spend my whole life in the sagebrush sea, and I want to get myself to where it’s green and rainy. My wife agrees, and over the course of several visits we decided Seattle is the place to be.

Now moving to Seattle takes a lot of work, like finding a new job, selling the house, getting a place to live, uprooting the kids, loading a U-Haul. But the one part of it that was going to be easy was starting a blog about my new home. Because I’ve been placeblogging for four years and I’m not going to stop doing it just because I move. So I started reading other Seattle blogs, and finding a lot of great content, and I started having ideas about the kinds of things I wanted to write about once I started my Seattle blog. And then I realized: why do I have to wait until I move to start the new site?  Why not experiment with writing a placeblog about a city I don’t live in, one that’s 800 miles away, where I get all my inspiration and story ideas from online?

So that’s what Seattlehound is. It’s me laying down the first roots of a website about Seattle. It’s not a newcomer’s blog, it’s a pre-newcomer’s blog. An outsider’s view. And since I’m going to have very little original reporting it mostly has to be made up of links to other websites, talking about the same things other bloggers are talking about. But it will allow me to hit the ground running when I do move there, and not have to start completely from scratch.

So that’s Seattlehound. Feel free to leave a comment if I say anything stupid. You won’t have to wait long.

Great to have you in the neighborhood; kinda!

Get your butt out here! I moved to Seattle from Vegas about 3 years ago and haven’t looked back. Don’t be a stranger.
